Certification, accuracy, PACS integration, health data: the essentials on the Milvue Suite, French AI for radiology.
01Milvue and AI in radiology
What is Milvue?
Milvue is a French artificial-intelligence company for radiology. Its solution, the Milvue Suite, helps radiologists and emergency physicians detect pathologies, measure anatomical structures and structure the report, directly within their workflow. Milvue is present in 25 countries, deployed across more than 600 imaging sites, and analyzes more than 40 million exams per year.
Does Milvue's AI replace the radiologist?
No. Milvue never replaces the radiologist: it makes them irreplaceable. The solution acts as a second read that prioritizes urgent cases, reduces missed findings and speeds up interpretation, but the medical decision always remains the clinician's.
Is the Milvue solution certified and CE marked?
Yes. The Milvue Suite, developed by Milvue, is a Class IIa medical device that is CE marked (EU Regulation 2017/745, notified body BSI, CE 2797). Milvue distributes its solutions in Europe (CE), Canada (Health Canada) and the US (FDA). The per-module detail is on the Solutions page.
How accurate is Milvue's AI?
In fracture detection, the Milvue Suite reaches a ROC-AUC above 96%, with comparable performance in children and adults across all age groups (FDA data, 510(k) K242171). Milvue ranked Nº 1 for fracture detection among the commercial solutions evaluated, in adults (Bousson, Academic Radiology 2023) and in pediatrics (Altmann-Schneider and Kellenberger, Pediatric Radiology 2025, 3,013 patients, Zurich).
Is there clinical proof of Milvue AI's performance?
Yes, several independent studies evaluate our solutions. In an independent validation (van Leeuwen et al., Radiology 2024), Milvue's AI detected lung nodules on chest radiographs with a performance (AUC) higher than that of a panel of 17 radiologists. All of our publications are available on the Publications page.
02The Milvue Suite: what it does
What does the Milvue Suite include?
The Milvue Suite brings together four building blocks: pathology detection, automatic anatomical measurements, report-drafting assistance (TechCare Report) and the AI assistant. It can be read two ways: by technology (Tech) or by clinical workflow (Care) - emergency and trauma, pediatrics, musculoskeletal, chest. Explore it on the Solutions page.
Which modalities and exams does Milvue's AI analyze?
Milvue mainly analyzes conventional 2D radiographs. Through its partners Coreline and Therapixel, the Suite also covers lung nodule detection on CT (2D and 3D), mammography and tomosynthesis.
Which pathologies does Milvue's AI detect?
Milvue detects fractures (including rib fractures), dislocations, joint effusions, pneumothorax, nodules and pleural effusion on conventional radiographs, among others. Milvue is the first solution to obtain FDA clearance for joint effusion detection, a key radiological sign of occult fracture, in the US.
Which automatic measurements does Milvue perform?
Milvue performs up to 60 automatic musculoskeletal measurements: angles, limb lengths and full-spine assessment. The Suite offers exclusive 3D spine analysis and EOS functionality, with visual reports that make measurements easier to interpret.
Is Milvue suited to pediatric radiology?
Yes. Milvue is validated with no age limit in Europe and reaches a ROC-AUC above 96% for fracture detection in children (FDA data). In an independent multivendor study (Altmann-Schneider and Kellenberger, Pediatric Radiology 2025, 3,013 patients in Zurich), Milvue ranked Nº 1 on pediatric fractures, with the lowest rate of “uncertain” findings among the solutions evaluated.
What is TechCare Report?
TechCare Report is report-drafting assistance software: you dictate, and it structures and formats the radiology report in more than 17 languages. TechCare Report is not a medical device and offers a free account, no bank card required.
Does Milvue calculate bone age?
Yes. TechCare Metrics computes bone age from a hand radiograph, alongside the Cobb angle, spine telemetry and lower limbs (EOS-type) - up to 60 musculoskeletal measurements in a single pass. The value is written straight into the report for the radiologist to validate.
03Integration, PACS and performance
How does Milvue integrate with the PACS and the workflow?
Milvue integrates natively into the DICOM flow and builds on the DICOM, HL7 and IHE standards. AI results are sent back automatically into the same study folder as the native images: they are accessible from the PACS or any reading console, with no change of tool.
How fast does Milvue return results?
On average, the complete analysis takes less than 2 minutes, from receiving the images to sending them back to the PACS.
How many exams can Milvue analyze per day?
Milvue can analyze up to 5,000 exams per center per day. This threshold can be adjusted to the institution's needs.
In which formats are the analyzed images returned?
Milvue analyses are returned in DICOM, as Secondary Capture, Overlay or GSPS. Annotations can be shown or hidden from the viewer, and the images keep the quality of the native image.
Where can I find the technical documentation and the DICOM/IHE Conformance Statement?
The DICOM and IHE conformance statements, along with integration documentation, are available on the Conformance statements page. Milvue builds on the DICOM, HL7 and IHE standards.
Does Milvue provide usage statistics?
Yes. Milvue can provide institutions with usage reporting: exam volumes analyzed, breakdown and flagged cases. Send your request to your Milvue contact or to support.
What is Milvue's service availability?
The Milvue service is continuously monitored, and an availability report can be provided to institutions. For service-level agreements (SLAs), get in touch.
04Data, security and compliance
How does Milvue protect patient data?
Milvue processes health data in compliance with the GDPR. The images used to improve the AI are anonymized and come from partner centers; processing takes place in a secure setting, compliant with medical-device regulations.
How many images has Milvue's AI been trained on?
Milvue's AI has been trained on more than one million images and keeps improving through anonymized data from its partner centers and clients.
